MEMBERS
Obviously the existance of the Oxford Area group is for its members. A small group of likeminded people who get together to share ideas, solve problems, and work together to promote the group. If you are interested in joining us then drop us an email, we are always looking for more members.
Below are details of the current members. If you see any of us around then say hello...
Brian Denton
Brian has been a member of the Association for over 20 years and coordinator of the Group since it was established in the early 1990s. He attended the first Beginners Weekend Workshop in Tring in 1986 but admits to have been remarkably unproductive since then. His initial enthusiasm for the LMS and its constituent companies has waned of late to be replaced by an industrial and, latterly, narrow gauge interest, so much so, that he has recently started on a 'Fielderesque' Nn3 layout.
Julia Adams
She has been a member of the Oxford Group now for just over 2 years. Enjoys modelling things from the 60's (although she wasnt around then!) She is currently the proud owner of the class 02 shunter and now a 42xx as seen elsewhere on this site. (the 02 was the first ever thing she has built!) Normally she can be found at the club pestering the other club members into doing something...
Maurice Pearce
Maurice has been modelling for 47 years. Until very recently he only ever kit or scratchbuilt anything. However being a big GWR fan the arrival of certain excellent Dapol models has tempted him into trying to detail some of these rather than always starting from scratch and some images of his handy work can be found HERE
He has had a few articles published in the N gauge Society Journal, Model Rail and on the above website.
He is perhaps better known as the owner of Osborns Models of Abingdon.
David Willis
He has been a member of the Association for more than 15 years and a member of the Group since its inception. Originally, he intended to build a model based on the Cromford and High Peak Railway, with a working incline, but decided that this project was too difficult for an initial venture. Now he is making progress on a model based on the layout “Elan – alias Llanastr Mawr” in the book “An Approach to Model Railway Layout Design: Finescale in Small Spaces” by Iain Rice. The location will probably be transferred from Wales to the South West because of family associations with the West Country.
Neil Fay
Neil started as so many others do with Graham Farish 'N' Gauge which took his fancy due to the potential of 'N' Gauge. But due to the overscale nature if their products he switched to American 'N' Gauge. He has a layout in the loft about half completed. A small bit of electrics and all the scenery to be done. He has been a member of the 2mm Association for about 15 years (ish) dabbling at bits and pieces. He joined the ADMRC about year ago and is presently involved with building the clubs new 2mm layout
Mark Cox
Mark has been modelling for 2 years and is a member of the Abingdon Model Railway Club as well as a member of the 2mm association. He enjoys modelling LMS late ‘30s and has made several kit wagons, a working semaphore signal and recently scratch built his first loco – a Royal Scot (which beat Julia's 42xx in a club show competition...grrr!).
